Blood Bank Services at Kasr Al Ainy Hospital

The Kasr Al Ainy Blood Bank provides blood transfusion services to all hospitals affiliated with Kasr Al Ainy hospitals. Kasr Al Ainy hospital complex is the oldest medical facility in the middle east serving almost 4000 beds.

Hospitals served include the following hospitals: Emergency Hospital 185, Oncology , Pediatric, Gynecology & Obstetrics, Urology Fahd Complex, Manial Hospitals and the Specialized Manial Hospital.

The Bank collects almost 70000 Blood bag annually through the blood donation clinic and through scheduled medical convoys through allover Egypt. We work tirelessly on 24/7 basis to ensure supplying ur services to save the lives of thousands of patients in emergency situations and to ensure the need of blood in major surgical operations.

Our bank examines donated blood in the lab to make sure that donated blood, or blood products, are safe before they are used in blood transfusions and other medical procedures. Blood products provided by us are: packed red cells, platelets, fresh – frozen plasma and cryoprecipitate.

One of the challenges we face is securing rare blood groups who are need to blood transfusion and also fulfilling the needs of blood transfusion to children with hereditary genetic disorders who are in regular need to blood to maintain their lives.

Blood banking is a commitment. We thrive to secure the needs of the medical services in Kasr Al Ainy and maintain our high standards of quality and efficacy.

Through the Zakat Committee we were able to fulfill our obligation toward the needs of blood requirements to all stakeholders.

The Kasr Al Ainy Blood Bank is headed by Professor Nermeen El Dousouky, Professor of Clinical Pathology and Head of blood transfusion center at Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University.
